Voidokilia Beach

Voidokilia Beach is a popular tourist destination located in the south of Messinia. It is the ideal place for families, as it offers great facilities and activities that are suitable for all ages. The golden sand stretches out over 2 kilometers (1 mile) with crystal clear waters that are ideal for swimming, sunbathing or water sports like boating or windsurfing. This beach has been rated as one of the top 10 beaches in the world, and it’s easy to see why. Polilimnio

Polilimnio waterfalls is a natural monument of the European Union, and it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Greece. The gorge was formed by torrents that flowed from Mount Taygetos and carved out their way through hills of limestone rock. It has many waterfalls, lakes and caves that you can visit during your trip to Messinia.

Gialova Lagoon

Gialova Lagoon is the largest lagoon in Greece and one of the most important wetlands in Europe. It is definitely worth going from there as you may see protected species, endemic plants, rare reptiles and some of the 270 species of birds that pass through Gialova on their migration route.

It is located 7 km north of Pylos, between the settlement of  Gialova and the bay of Voidokilia. The lagoon of  Gialova is also known as Divari (from the Latin word vivarium, meaning “fish farm”), with the greatest depth not exceeding 4 metres.

As a birdwatching destination, it is now one of the best spots in Greece. More than 200 species have been recorded here, including rare birds such as herons, cormorants, cormorants, kingfishers, flamingos and kingfishers. Numerous mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish have their habitat here; most notably the African chameleon (an endangered species).
